Save the Children works in 120 countries. We save children’s lives. We fight for their rights. We help them fulfil their potential. We have led global action on children’s rights for more than 90 years.

How we improve children’s lives

Save the Children uses a holistic approach to help achieve more for children. We use our vast resources in an efficient and sustainable way.

In every programme we aim to:

  • INNOVATE – develop and prove evidence-based, replicable solutions to the problems children face.

  • ACHIEVE RESULTS AT SCALE – by expanding effective and sustainable approaches.

  • BE THE VOICE – campaign for better practices and policies to fulfil children’s rights and ensure that children’s voices are heard.

  • BUILD PARTNERSHIPS – with children, communities, governments, civil society and private sector organizations to influence others and increase our impact.

The Children’s Rights and Business Principles

Developed by UNICEF, the UN Global Compact, and Save the Children, the Children’s Rights and Business Principles are the first comprehensive set of principles to guide companies on the full range of actions they can take in the workplace, marketplace and community to respect and support children’s rights. While the business and human rights agenda has evolved significantly in recent years, a child rights perspective has not yet been explicitly addressed nor fully understood, for that matter.

The Principles are built on existing standards, initiatives and best practices related to business and children. They seek to present a coherent vision which maximizes the positive impacts of business on children and minimizes the negative. In doing so, the Principles help to reveal business opportunities, as well as expectations on companies, in relation to those often overlooked stakeholders: children.
